This is a collection of songs I've written. All lyrics are mine, but much of the music is produced with the help of AI tools. Enjoy what's here!
High up on a mountain,
in the forests of the north, beneath a misty sunset, a creature ventures forth. It walks beneath the branches through the brush along the ground. A giant and protector, it moves without a sound. Oh, oh, traveler from Faerun. Guardian of the Forest, hid beneath the moon. Oh, oh, Sasquatch of the Night, a shadow to the hunter, to the Earth a shining light. A mighty stride beneath him, and power in his hand, he cares for all creation in his protected land. A watcher and a warrior with peace within his heart. From other realms he whispers with wisdom to impart. Oh, oh, traveler from Faerun. Guardian of the Forest, hid beneath the moon. Oh, oh, Sasquatch of the Night, a shadow to the hunter, to the Earth a shining light. He calls across the mountains, is heard for miles around by souls in search of something more, of nature’s healing sound. Oh, oh, traveler from Faerun. Guardian of the Forest, hid beneath the moon. Oh, oh, Sasquatch of the Night, a shadow to the hunter, to the Earth a shining light. Sasquatch of the Night, to the Earth a shining light. [Verse]
A mystic tune flew on the wind across the dust and sand. Behind it, in the fire of sun, a daring, dancing man. Of mystery and wisdom, of ancient Twisted Hair, he moved like words and whispers with news and tales to share. [Chorus] Kokopelli, the wandering sage, secret of the desert in another age. Kokopelli, the bringer of trade, bringer of hope and the music that he played. [Verse] His flute announced his magic, and called for life and birth. It drew the rains of springtime to restore a drying Earth. The Elders heard his whistle and welcomed him to stay, explored the goods he brought them, then blessed him on his way. [Chorus] Kokopelli, the wandering sage, secret of the desert in another age. Kokopelli, the bringer of trade, bringer of hope and the music that he played. [Bridge] What he carried on his back was a mystery: the secrets of life that could set the desert free. Through the silence of sound and the dark of day, his stories and his music led the way. [Chorus] Kokopelli, the wandering sage, secret of the desert in another age. Kokopelli, the bringer of trade, bringer of hope and the music that he played. Secret of the desert in another age. This song caught me off guard, as I didn't know where it would go or how beautiful (I think) it would end up. For me, it ends up being about the spiritual development of an individual and of humanity as a whole. We all know Mr Pibbs. And we are all Mr Pibbs. And we all play a role in the growth of Mr Pibbs. [Verse]
In his darkest mind of minds, Mr. Pibbs is blind to all the things there are to see, to letting goodness be. [Verse] He’s looking for his glory now, to shining through his story. He’s bending ears and earning tears, promoting midnight fears. [Chorus] Mr. Pibbs is quite the kid, stuck inside and small, wishing he were something more, afraid that he will fall. But Mr. Pibbs is one of us. That’s something after all. [Verse] In his cloudy day to day to day, he tries to make his way to the tops of charts and broken hearts from his place of broken starts. [Verse] Mr. Pibbs is looking better now with his plastic face and sweater. He smiles at us the whole day long and tries to sing a better song. [Chorus] Mr. Pibbs is quite the kid, stuck inside and small, wishing he were something more, afraid that he will fall. But Mr. Pibbs is one of us. That’s something after all. [Bridge] There are times of life we all know Mr. Pibbs. Times when we can smile. Times to lend a hand. For Mr. Pibbs is one of us, and it’s time for him to stand. Mr. Pibbs is breaking to be a better man. [Chorus] Mr. Pibbs was quite the kid, stuck inside his past, wishing he were something more, and now he is at last. [Outro] Mr. Pibbs is one of us. He greets us every day. The best of us, the worst of us, he’s here to show the way. The best of us, the worst of us, the nighttime and the day. And we’re here to walk the way. [Verse]
We sat that night beneath the moon. You made me laugh, you made me swoon. We walked the streets beneath the lights and took in all the city sights. [Verse] We danced across the playground then, and played on swings like kids again. We spoke of love and life and pain; held hands and ran in the morning rain. [Chorus] And then you went away. You turned your face to hide like we’d never met at all, like a shot upon my pride. And then you went away like the timid ghost you are: a flash of light that disappears like a moment’s shooting star. [Verse] We danced alone on an empty street. Sat on a rooftop for a midnight treat. We painted pictures in the city park, Unknowing colors in the nighttime dark. [Verse] I sang a song as you strummed on the guitar. You told me stories that were nothing but bizarre. We acted crazy when strangers passed us by. We gave life meaning, together you and I. [Chorus] And then you went away. You turned your face to hide like we’d never met at all, like a shot upon my pride. And then you went away like the timid ghost you are: a flash of light that disappears like a moment’s shooting star. [Bridge] You never knew before you closed the door that for everything you saw, I am so much more. Inside me there’s a spirit that is burning bright. Inside me there’s a soul that is taking flight. [Chorus] So when you went away and turned your face to hide, you never knew that I would stand here full of pride. For when you went away like the timid ghost you are: I rose up even higher like a bold and shining star. [Climax] I fly on wings of angels up to the moon at night; create with so much power as the sun is shining bright. Lift up the world around me with all that I can be. If only you could hear me now. If only you could see. [Outro] Although you went away and lost this shining star, I know the good inside you. I know everything you are. So dance beneath the moonlight, and laugh and paint and sing, and maybe you will see me as I rise up on my wings. [Verse]
Another day in the big old world. Another day and a dime. I gotta say, while I’m working away, that I feel like I’m wasting my time. [Verse] But then I know what I’m working for. I know that I’m working for you. And so I’ll say, while I’m working away, I got something to look forward to. [Chorus] You lift me up when I’m feeling blue. You make me smile like no one else can do. You make me try to live a life that’s true. Darling that’s why there’s no one but you. [Verse] Another day of up before dawn. Another day of scraping by. I kinda feel like the world ain’t real, like I should sit right down and cry. [Verse] But then I know that I’m living the dream, got the whole world in my hand. ’Cause I got a dream of a girl, and ’cause baby, I’m your man. [Chorus] You lift me up when I’m feeling blue. You make me smile like no one else can do. You make me try to live a life that’s true. Darling that’s why there’s no one but you. [Bridge] You are the one whose soul I see, setting the fire to make a better me. As our spirits soar to the heavens above, yours is the smile, yours is the heart I love. [Chorus] You lift me up when I’m feeling blue. You make me smile like no one else can do. You make me try to live a life that’s true. Darling that’s why there’s no one but you. [Outro] Darling that’s why there’s no one but you. In the depths of my mind, I come to find
that there is one who feeds my soul. Whether far or near, she is always here, and she's the one who makes me whole. In a thousand dreams, it always seems that her beauty speeds my way past valleys and peaks as my spirit seeks to create in each new day. Whenever I feel like I’ve lost control, and life is taking its toll, I look to her ’cause after all, she’s the one who feeds my soul. With this passion and drive, I live, I thrive! And all because she is there. For her touch and her love, I rise above, seek to better myself in her care. She is ever my queen, she is kind and serene, and a vision of heavenly ways. For eternity's years, through both laughter and tears, I am hers to the end of days. Whenever I feel like I’ve lost control, and life is taking its toll, I look to her ’cause after all, she’s the one who feeds my soul. Yeah she’s the one who feeds my soul. January 17-18, 2020, in Detroit, we went from bare grass to about 6" of snow. While watching it come down, my brain connected to Edgar Allan Poe, whose birthday is on January 19. And so I produced this little whimsy for his birthday. For his birthday in 2024, I've turned it into this jazz piece -- a simple musical tribute. Lyrics are on the original poem page. Sittin’ alone in a dry air motel, feelin’ a bit like I’m in some kind of hell. Thinkin’ of home and the sweet thing waiting for me. The two of us, the way life ought to be. [Chorus] So many years now behind us. So many more still in store. Every day the most important thing is I love her more and more. [Verse] Workin’ away to leave my mark on the world, thinkin’ the whole time of my girl. Grateful as always she sees something in me. The two of us, the way life ought to be. [Chorus] So many years now behind us. So many more still in store. Every day the most important thing is I love her more and more. [Bridge] From the little things to all the big, from raisin’ hell to raisin’ kids, from the cold at night to the heat of day, she gives me life and shows the way. [Chorus] So many years now behind us. So many more still in store. Every day the most important thing is I love her more and more. [Outro] The most important thing is I love her more and more. [Verse]
Santa Claus is coming like he does each year. His magic is humming. He’s dressed up in his gear. [Verse] Santa Claus is on his way. He’s got his presents too. He’s riding on his sleigh bringing happiness to you. [Chorus] ‘Cause Christmastime is here, and Santa does his part to bring the world some cheer and to open up our hearts. [Verse] Santa Claus just shows us how to really give: the greatest gift inside us, the way we ought to live. [Verse] Santa knows the truth of joy and magic too, of light and peace and youth, and it’s all inside of you. [Chorus] ‘Cause Christmastime is here, and Santa does his part to bring the world some cheer and to open up our hearts. [Bridge] We set up lights and Christmas trees, make gingerbread and pie. The snowflakes carry on the breeze while the reindeer start to fly. [Chorus] ‘Cause Christmastime is here, and Santa does his part to bring the world some cheer and to open up our hearts. [Outro] Yeah Christmastime is here, and Santa does his part to bring the world some cheer and to open up our hearts. |
