2020 opened people's eyes like never before. But with incredible division in how people see the world, either there are several realities going on at once (entirely possible), or different groups have gotten clearer about different things while still having the wool over their eyes about others. And yet the new level of clarity has made us more convinced about our "rightness" than ever, driving division to new levels.
I think it's fair to say that most people are pointing to the top -- to our leaders who we're convinced are corrupt -- and we just have different opinions about who's corrupt and who is trying to lead us to a better world.
My view? We're collectively responsible through our hearts and actions as to how we're governed, and we need to truly use 2021 to transform ourselves -- to better ourselves -- in order to root out corruption in government. In this way, regardless of who's right about where the problem lies in government, I believe it can be resolved.
Of course personal transformation isn't overnight work, although 2020 produced a ton of pressure to drive change at a pace we've never seen. That can't help but to have opened new opportunities for us in 2021, and now we need to dream a better dream, to not continue focusing on what we think is wrong and who we can blame, but to dream the kind of world we'd like to see. We'd like to live in. We'd like our future generations to live in.
If you eliminate corruption from all our institutions -- and this includes a lot of corrupt "science" based on agendas -- could we get a clear view on our environment, and economy, and health, and education? Can we see a way for these to harmonize and uplift one another rather than being in competition?
Importantly, as we envision a new and better world -- and hold that vision as clearly as possible -- can we do something right now, today, that is critical to the world we want to build: can we stop thinking that people who see the world differently have evil intentions?
Forget about the clearly corrupt who are trying to capture money and power for themselves. I'm speaking about the average person who clearly wants good things happening to themselves and their neighbors. Can we remember that? Can we trust that they actually don't want bad things happening? Can we set aside the drama of hate long enough to remember that we all generally want the same things, even if we have different beliefs about how to achieve that?
If so, we can get back to civil conversations about our next steps and how we can indeed fulfill our vision for the best of what we all have in mind.
